The city of Durham in North Carolina is part of the famous Research Triangle Park area. The community is the home of Duke University, Duke University Health System and North Carolina Central University. Like several of the other cities and towns in the Research Triangle region, Durham has a humid subtropical climate with very hot, humid summers spanning from June through August, and mild winters with an average of 4 inches of snow. Durham has an average of 220 days of sunshine per year (above the national average of 205). With all of that sunshine and hot weather, it’s worth considering 3M Sun Control window tint in Durham to help your home stay cooler in the summer and reject the sun’s powerful UV rays that can be harmful to people and interiors.

Durham’s crime index is 6–meaning Durham is only 6% safer than other U.S. cities. The crime rate is 49.15 per 1,000 residents with property crime (theft, burglary, motor vehicle theft) as the dominant type of crime. The chance of experiencing property crime in Durham is 1 in 25, compared to the state average of 1 in 39. With 122 crimes per square mile in Duham, window films from 3M’s Safety and Security series can help keep you and your belongings safer.

Carolina Solar is the premier provider for window tints and window films in Durham. Here are a few of our recent projects in Durham:

Duke Learning Center - Grand Wall

Carolina Solar was thrilled to be the selected provider for this project. We installed a custom graphic in the form of arches using 3M’s Dusted Crystal decorative film.

RHO New World Headquarters in Research Triangle Park

At the RHO New World Headquarters, we installed Fasara San Marino decorative film throughout the building on interior glass walls to create privacy and match RHO’s branding needs.

Private Residence

Did you know as much as 40% of furniture and interior fading is caused by the UV rays from the sun? That’s why the owners of this private residence elected to have Carolina Solar install 3M’s Sun Control Night Vision 35 Series film on their home’s windows. The Night Vision 35 film provides excellent protection from the fading UV rays of the sun while also controling the amount of natural light coming in through the windows for better eye comfort.
